"A senior engineer from Global Technology Solutions was engaged to upgrade, improve and develop the patient database for the Haematology Department at St Vincents Hospital, Sydney.

The existing database was created using Filemaker v.6, customised in 1998 specifically for the needs of an expanding patient population and which served us well for 10 years.

The directive was to upgrade the information on the currently collected database (over 10,000 patients), to use the new features of FMP9 to enhance and improve access and to add specific features useful to data collectors and statistcians.

The new database very adequately addresses the needs of the speciality of Haematology & Bone Marrow Transplant. It is very accessible to all clinicians, nursing and allied health staff, research and administrative staff who have expressed satisfaction for its functionality, ease of use and clarity of lay out.
